Absinthe 4th Anniversary August 26th

Café Absinthe celebrated its 4th anniversary with a series of events in the last week of August. I played with my band on August 26th. Lasting four years is a feat nowadays in Osaka, where bars, restaurants and live houses open and close in the blink of an eye. So congratulations to the restaurant’s owner, Dmitri, who has done a fine job with this elegant yet cozy establishment. Even before singing here I loved the place, visiting often with friends to sample the absinthe, Mediterranean cuisine, or to view the art exhibitions often on display.

This was a great night because of the positive feelings from all the guests who, like me, loved hanging out at Absinthe, and also because I welcomed a new member to the band - saxaphonist, Mariko Endo. Mariko is really special. Young, beautiful, talented, kind…I can go on and on. Her youthful and humble demeaner hide a really wicked talent - she is soooo funky on that sax. Rounding out the band were Shinsuke Shimatani on guitar, Larry Ransome on drums and the very cool, Yohei Arai on upright bass. Playing that night between our sets was a friend and great DJ - Basir. So I spent the night singing, dancing, and in great company. Again, lots of friends showed up to share the night and make it special. Thank you…
